Four former Carson High stars who played Major League Baseball and their Senators coach, Ron McNutt, will hold a meet-and-greet and sign autographs for fans at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Governor\u2019s Field in Carson City.<\/p>\n
Matt Williams, Bob Ayrault, Darrell Rasner and Charlie Kerfeld will be on Field 1 along with their former coach before attending the Carson City Chamber of Commerce annual meeting where McNutt will provide the keynote address highlighting his career. The Carson City Chamber of Commerce annual meeting will include a Q&A with the Williams, Ayrault, Rasner and Kerfeld. The first 100 kids at the meet-and-greet between the ages of 4 to 16 will receive a complimentary baseball cap designed for the occasion. Flocchini Meat Provisions provide complimentary stadium hot dogs.<\/p>\n
One of the best high school coaches in Nevada history, McNutt won a state-record 783 games and sent seven players to the major leagues out of Carson High. He also coached several big-leaguers on the Carson Capitals summer league team, including future AL MVP Dustin Pedroia. McNutt led Carson High to state titles in 1979 and 1992 among his six trips to the state championship game<\/p>\n
Williams is the best baseball player in Northern Nevada history. The No. 3 pick of the 1986 draft, the third baseman was a five-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove winner, four-time Silver Slugger and a World Series winner during his 17-year career. He hit .268 with 378 home runs before becoming the manager of the Washington Nationals where he was the NL Manager of the Year in 2014. Williams was most recently a coach for the San Francisco Giants from 2004-05.<\/p>\n
Kerfeld pitched in 123 games from 1985-87 and 1990, Ayrault pitched in 54 games from 1992-93 and Rasner pitched in 41 games from 2005-08.
