\u201cBut I\u2019m not in the position at the moment in my own head to ascertain whether it\u2019s a yes or no. I really don\u2019t think it\u2019s appropriate for me to say that if I don\u2019t feel I\u2019m ready to answer that.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m in that situation at the moment. I know people would like a yes or no, but if you\u2019re not in a situation to be able to provide that, you\u2019re better off not doing it and letting time play out.<\/p>\n

Asked if he would answer a call from the Blues specifically, Longmire was non-committal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not into dealing with hypotheticals at the moment, I\u2019m not into interested in what may or may not happen down the track,\u201d Longmire added.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I said, I\u2019ll let time play and these things become clear for everybody as time plays out.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m pretty comfortable saying that and that\u2019s the situation as it sits at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Longmire is in his second season out of coaching after departing Sydney post the club\u2019s 2024 Grand Final loss to Brisbane. <\/p>\n
He said assuring a club is the right fit and that is has \u201calignment\u201d among key posts across the board is crucial for any coach exploring an opportunity. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhether it\u2019s from my perspective or anyone\u2019s perspective in a coaching sense, it\u2019s a big job,\u201d Longmire said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been able to see it from a perspective that I coached here for 14 years at the Sydney Swans. I really understood what makes a good footy club and certainly a sustainable foot club that was able to stay around the top for a period of time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose things are really important, whoever is going to jump into any coaching role at whatever club. <\/p>\n
\u201cThose things \u2014 the alignment across all the key people in the footy club in particular \u2014 is a really important factor in why someone would want to jump back into coaching or start their coaching journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI dunno. Today is a no, but what\u2019s it like in 10, 14, 15 weeks?,\u201d Simpson said on AFL 360.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s weird to say, because people think there is an answer coming straight away, yes or no.<\/p>\n
\u201cI assuming there\u2019s some career coaches out there that would be: \u2018I\u2019m a career coach, I will do coaching until the day I die\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut there\u2019s a bit more depth, I suppose, to our lives and there\u2019s a lot to work through.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the moment, no, but I don\u2019t really know.\u201d<\/p>\n
Simpson added that is was a \u201cbig decision\u201d with multiple factors at play. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt feels weird saying no, but it\u2019s no. That\u2019s just the reality of how it is,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI know people can perceive it as confusing, but it\u2019s a big decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be: A, yeah I\u2019m available. B, what\u2019s the right fit? And C, where are you in your life? <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not simple. This happened yesterday, and I\u2019m still connected to some people at the club.<\/p>\n
