Three years after it last aired a full season, hit BBC sitcom Two Doors Down has been confirmed for a proper return. The series follows residents in a suburban Glasgow street, and first broadcast back in 2013.

While it appeared to conclude in 2023 following the passing of co-creator Simon Carlyle, the series returned for a one-off Christmas special last year. Now, it’s back again for a full eighth season, with the new episodes set to pick up straight after its events.

In it, Beth (Arabella Weir) and Eric (Alex Norton) are “still clinging to the hope of a quiet life, but their best efforts are no match for the relentless chaos” at the hands of neighbours Colin (Jonathan Watson), Cathy (Doon Mackichan) and Christine (Elaine C Smith).

The BBC has further teased that the new episodes will drop fans “right back into the wonderfully claustrophobic and painfully familiar world of Latimer Crescent”.

“It was a lot of fun putting the band back together for the Christmas episode last year, so I’m really excited to be coming back with some new tunes, which we hope will turn out just as special,” co-creator Gregor Sharp said. “The cast are the most talented group of performers you could wish for, and I can’t wait to get started.”

BBC Director of Comedy Jon Petrie added: “Eight series in, and the team are still making a world that audiences properly love spending time in. That’s no mean feat, and it’s a huge credit to the talent, care and commitment behind the show. We’re really proud to bring it back for another series.”

“It’s fantastic to be returning once more to Latimer Crescent and these wonderfully written and performed characters,” said Head of Commissioning for BBC Scotland, Louise Thornton.

“We know how much they are loved by audiences up and down the country and we’re delighted to be bringing it back and stepping into their lives once again.”
