{"id":669700,"date":"2026-05-14T04:50:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T04:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/669700\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T04:50:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T04:50:13","slug":"new-hospital-equipped-to-meet-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/669700\/","title":{"rendered":"New hospital equipped to meet demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new purpose-built private hospital combining advanced technology and world-class clinicians is set to open soon.<\/p>\n<p>The $100-million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunshinecoastnews.com.au\/2025\/09\/25\/ten-storey-hospital-built-ahead-of-schedule\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maroochy\u00a0Private\u00a0Hospital<\/a>\u00a0in Maroochydore City Centre will welcome its first patients mid-June.<\/p>\n<p>Developed by Fortius\u00a0Hospitals,\u00a0the\u00a010-storey facility reflects a shift away from traditional large scale\u00a0hospital\u00a0models.<\/p>\n<p>Director at Fortius Hospitals Warwick Crosby said the hospital was focused on a small number of high-demand specialties and centred on doing fewer procedures exceptionally well.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an approach global evidence links to stronger outcomes and enhanced experience for patients and staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlobally, we are seeing a clear shift in how surgical care is delivered, with patients moving toward dedicated surgical facilities that improve patient experience and clinical outcomes,\u201d Mr Crosby said.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-197817\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SCN130526-Daevyd-Rodda-addressing-new-staff-at-Maroochy-Private-Hospital-.jpg\" alt=\"Orthopaedic surgeon and director of SCOG, associate professor Daevyd Rodda addressing staff at the new Maroochy Private Hospital. \" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\"  \/>Orthopaedic surgeon and director of SCOG, associate professor Daevyd Rodda addressing staff at the new facility. Picture: Supplied.<\/p>\n<p>Services will include orthopaedics, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and pain management.<\/p>\n<p>It will be supported by six operating\u00a0theatres, advanced imaging, consulting suites and multidisciplinary clinical spaces.<\/p>\n<p>A key clinical partner,\u00a0Sunshine\u00a0Coast\u00a0Orthopaedic Group (SCOG), will deliver orthopaedic services from\u00a0the\u00a0hospital\u2019s\u00a0top floor.<\/p>\n<p>Orthopaedic surgeon and director of SCOG, associate professor Daevyd Rodda, said the facility would provide world-class care on the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs demand for joint replacement continues to grow, we expect Maroochy Private Hospital to become a true destination hospital, attracting patients from across the Sunshine Coast and beyond for specialist treatment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Director of nursing Heather Russo said the\u00a0recruitment process had attracted highly qualified clinicians, nurses and support staff from leading\u00a0hospitals and health services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast week, we were delighted to bring our founding team together for a tour of the hospital and it is heartening to see a team forming that values collaboration and collective excellence,\u201d Ms Russo said.<\/p>\n<p>Maroochy Private\u00a0Hospital\u00a0is the third\u00a0hospital\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0Fortius portfolio.
