This was perhaps the most ludicrous sentiment heard from conservatives post-budget, as boomer-friendly media went into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crikey.com.au\/2026\/05\/13\/budget-2026-media-reaction-telegraph-australian-financial-review\/?utm_campaign=daily&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=newsletter\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">full meltdown<\/a> over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crikey.com.au\/2026\/05\/13\/budget-2026-negative-gearing-capital-gains-boomers-gen-x-intergenerational-equality\/?utm_campaign=daily&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=newsletter\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">modest<\/a> changes to capital gains, negative gearing, and trusts \u2014 tax minimisation vehicles that mostly benefit older, asset-rich Australians.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/picketer.bsky.social\/post\/3mlos5muyqk2s\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boomers\u2019 lament<\/a>\u201d was accompanied by a bizarre claim that Labor\u2019s attempt to mitigate intergenerational inequity was actually the opposite, hurting the very young people it purported to help.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Won\u2019t somebody please think of the children!!!
