According to Code Sports, Metcalf’s contract is worth around $900,000 per season.

Metcalf had been given permission by the Warriors to explore his options earlier this week despite being contracted to the club until the end of 2028.

While Metcalf was once viewed as the club’s long-term halfback, the stellar form of new recruit Tanah Boyd gave the Warriors a welcome headache and the former Titans playmaker has reportedly been rewarded with a contract extension of his own.

Metcalf was leading the Dally M count midway through last year before an ACL injury cut his breakout season short.

When healthy, he is among the most dynamic halfbacks in the game and the Dragons are confident the 27-year-old will bounce back from his most recent injury.

Dragons Chief Executive Officer Tim Watsford said in a statement that Metcalf’s signing was an “important step” for the club.

Bulldogs pull out of Metcalf deal | 01:02

“Luke is a player who brings creativity and confidence to our football program,” Watsford said.

“To be able to bring him into the club for the next three years is a significant outcome for us.

“He has shown he can influence games with the ball in hand, and we believe his best football is still in front of him. This is another important step in building a squad that supports our local talent with strategic additions, allowing the playing group to grow together and deliver the kind of football our members and fans want to see.”

Metcalf, meanwhile, said he was “really excited” to join the Dragons but also reaffirmed his commitment to the Warriors until the end of the year.

“It’s a proud club with a huge supporter base, and I’m looking forward to meeting the boys, getting to work and earning the respect of the players, staff and fans,” he added.

“I intend to give my all to the Warriors for the remainder of this season before taking the next step in my career. It will be an honour to pull on the Red V and do everything I can to help the club move forward.”

Metcalf is the latest major signing for the Dragons along with Keaon Koloamatangi (2027-2031), Scott Drinkwater (2027-2029) and Phillip Sami (2027-2029), while local juniors Hamish Stewart (current-2029) and Dylan Egan (current-2029) have also recently extended.

The Warriors also confirmed Metcalf’s impending departure in a statement, with CEO Cameron George saying the 27-year-old will be a “valuable part of our squad for the rest of 2026”.

The Dragons have continued their signing spree, confirming the addition of star halfback Luke Metcalf on a three-year…

[568
64,63,761,762,158,85
post-670149","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nrl","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-national-rugby-league","tag-nationalrugbyleague","tag-nrl","tag-sports
["GET
