Jason Duggar’s wife, Maddie Duggar, shared the surprising reason why they’re waiting to have kids.<\/p>\n

While appearing on the Wednesday, August 13, episode of Jinger Duggar and husband Jeremy Vuolo\u2019s \u201cJinger and Jeremy\u201d podcast<\/a>, Jason, 25, played a prank on his sister<\/a> by pretending that he and Maddie, 21, were expecting their first child together.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, he does that to me all the time,\u201d Maddie clarified. \u201cWe are not expecting at all! We are not trying to be expecting.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Jason asked the show’s listeners to \u201cstop\u201d saying the newlyweds<\/a> were \u201ctrying to be expecting,” Maddie explained that they aren’t in a rush to become parents because she’s “trying to finish up school.”<\/p>\n

The couple, who tied the knot in October 2024, said that they \u201clove babies,\u201d<\/a> though they want to enjoy life as newlyweds before they have children.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love kids. We get \u2018baby fever,\u2019\u201d Maddie explained. \u201cBut, I want to wait and I want to just enjoy this time. I can always get pregnant later on, Lord willing. Right now, we just want to chill.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then said that it’s important for them to settle into their lives as a married couple because their relationship is still relatively new. \u201cWe know each other, but we\u2019re still getting to know each other [in the] first year of your marriage,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m going to wait until after school. I have one year of school left.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Duggars may be known for having kids young, though Maddie insisted she doesn’t see herself becoming a mom in the near future. \u201cI graduate next May and I don\u2019t want to worry about a baby before then! I think we\u2019ve got some time \u2026 Immediately, no babies. No babies at all,” she said. “We just babysit and get humbled whenever we do babysit!\u201d<\/p>\n

Jeremy, 37, then gave Maddie and Jason a glimpse into parenthood by telling them to \u201cget [their] judgement\u201d out now by watching \u201cmisbehaving children\u201d in public places.<\/p>\n

\u201cSay things like, \u2018We would never let our kids do that,\u2019 \u2018yes, sir,\u2019 \u2018no, ma\u2019am,\u2019 that kind of stuff because once you have the babies, you won\u2019t be able to do that anymore,\u201d Jeremy said. \u201cEnjoy it because when you have the babies, [it \u2019s] a judgment-free zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jason agreed by telling his brother-in-law, \u201cAll that is out the window!\u201d<\/p>\n
