Could Delta win Eurovision?<\/p>\n
Australia has never won Eurovision in 11 years of competing and is usually thought to have little chance of doing so due to our infancy in the contest and well-established regional voting blocs.<\/p>\n
But this year, a different story could unfold.<\/p>\n
Delta Goodrem qualifies for Eurovision 2026 grand final<\/a><\/p>\n Delta Goodrem will perform in the Eurovision 2026 grand final for Australia after a rousing performance of the song Eclipse during the semifinal.<\/p>\n Eurovisionworld, which has averaged the odds from multiple betting sites, placed Goodrem with the second-highest chance of winning after her semifinal performance. \u00a0<\/p>\n On Friday afternoon, it listed Australia with a 14 per cent chance of victory, ahead of Greece’s 10 per cent.<\/p>\n However, Finland remained the firm favourite with a 38 per cent chance.<\/p>\n It could signal success Australia hasn’t seen since Dami Im and her song Sound of Silence placed second in 2016.<\/p>\n Delta Goodrem will again perform in the grand final on Sunday morning, Australian time. (Supplied)<\/p>\n Mr Woods was among 200 members of the Australian fan group who had travelled to the Austrian capital for this year’s event.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I did have to pinch myself when I saw that it was Delta representing Australia this year,” he said.<\/p>\n “I still remember being the little five-year-old kid dancing and borrowing my sister’s copies of Innocent Eyes.<\/p>\n “It’s really exciting that we’ve got such a strong entry this year \u2026 seeing such a well-respected artist like Delta show why she is so well-loved on the global stage.<\/p>\n “It’s just something that we can really be proud of as Australians.”<\/p>\n The winning country typically hosts the Eurovision contest the following year, but that likely would not be the case if Australia won.<\/p>\n Eurovision officials have previously said that if Australia were to win, another European country would host on our behalf<\/a> due to the time difference and logistical challenges of bringing the event down under.<\/p>\n Which countries are in this year’s final?<\/p>\n Only 10 artists from the 15 countries in semifinal two have proceeded to the grand final.<\/p>\n The nine countries joining Australia in the final are Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Malta, Romania, Ukraine, and Norway.\u00a0<\/p>\n The song was arranged with pyrotechnics, special effects and more.
