In the ramp up to I\/O 2026, Google has been working on adding a more advanced agent<\/a> capability to the Gemini app. It now looks like it will be branded as \u201cGemini Spark.\u201d<\/p>\n About APK Insight: In this \u201cAPK Insight\u201d post, we\u2019ve decompiled the latest version of an application that Google uploaded to the Play Store. When we decompile these files (called APKs, in the case of Android apps), we\u2019re able to see various lines of code within that hint at possible future features. Keep in mind that Google may or may not ever ship these features, and our interpretation of what they are may be imperfect. We\u2019ll try to enable those that are closer to being finished, however, to show you how they\u2019ll look in case that they do ship. With that in mind, read on.<\/p>\n Google app beta version 17.23 today introduces the \u201cGemini Spark\u201d name after previously referring to it as \u201cGemini Agent.\u201d Its icon is literally Gemini\u2019s spark with momentum, like a comet.\u00a0(This is the second week in a row that Google has released two beta releases in the same week: 17.22 and 17.23.)<\/p>\n The more you use Gemini Spark, the better it understands you and what you want to accomplish.\u00a0<\/p>\n Behind the scenes, Gemini Spark will use \u201cyour info from sources like Connected Apps, skills, chats, tasks, websites you\u2019re logged into, Personal Intelligence, location, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n Additionally, Gemini Spark can \u201cshare necessary info with third parties\u201d as needed to accomplish the task: \u201cThis could include your name, contact information, files, preferences, and info you might find sensitive.\u201d<\/p>\n Google makes clear that \u201cGemini Spark is experimental.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhile it is designed to ask for your permission before taking sensitive actions, it may do things like share your info or make purchases without asking. Make sure to supervise Gemini Spark, and don\u2019t rely on it for medical advice, legal, financial, or other professional help.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Spark is already appearing for some testers. As part of the redesigned app<\/a>, \u201cSpark\u201d will appear in the updated navigation drawer. This launches a two-tab layout split between \u201cChat\u201d and \u201cAgent.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n You create new tasks in Spark with a list of active ones and those that are scheduled to run at specified times. Example capabilities include:<\/p>\n Declutter your inbox: Summarize or archive newsletters and unsubscribe from emails lists<\/p>\n Get meeting briefs: Get concise overviews and relevant info before important meetings<\/p>\n Get a custom news digest: Go deep on the stories you care about and follow how they evolve<\/p>\n
