{"id":672112,"date":"2026-05-15T07:28:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T07:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/672112\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T07:28:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T07:28:10","slug":"golden-knights-eliminate-ducks-5-1-in-series-clinching-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/672112\/","title":{"rendered":"Golden Knights Eliminate Ducks, 5-1, in Series-Clinching Victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Vegas Golden Knights took down the Anaheim Ducks, 5-1, in Game 6 of the Second Round series on Thursday night at Honda Center to win the series, 4-2, and clinch their spot in the Western Conference Finals.<\/p>\n<p>HOW IT WENT DOWN<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/goldenknights\/player\/mitch-marner-8478483\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mitch Marner<\/a> gave the Golden Knights an early lead with a breakaway goal just over a minute into the contest after he received a long stretch pass from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/goldenknights\/player\/william-karlsson-8476448\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">William Karlsson<\/a> and went backhand-forehand through his legs to beat Lukas Dostal. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/goldenknights\/player\/brett-howden-8479353\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brett Howden<\/a> doubled Vegas\u2019 lead at 8:30 of the first period with his league-leading third short-handed tally of the playoffs after taking a backdoor feed from Marner. Vegas stretched their lead to 3-0 with 2:41 remaining in the frame as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/goldenknights\/player\/tomas-hertl-8476881\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tomas<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/goldenknights\/player\/tomas-hertl-8476881\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hertl<\/a>\u2019s offensive-zone draw win directed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/goldenknights\/player\/shea-theodore-8477447\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shea Theodore<\/a> at the blue line, who fired a wrist shot top-shelf past Dostal. The Ducks cut Vegas\u2019 advantage to 3-1 when Mikael Granlund converted with 7:14 left in the second period. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/goldenknights\/player\/pavel-dorofeyev-8481604\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pavel Dorofeyev<\/a> restored the three-goal edge just under three minutes into the final frame with a wrist shot from the right circle after a forecheck takeaway and dish from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/goldenknights\/player\/ivan-barbashev-8477964\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ivan Barbashev<\/a>. Dorofeyev followed up with his second goal of the night with 6:28 remaining to put Vegas up, 5-1.
