Game Recap: Whai vs Jets<\/p>\n
Result: The Northern Group Tauranga Whai (97) are defeated by Property Brokers Manawat\u016b Jets (99)<\/p>\n
The Whai were looking to bounce back after a tough loss against the Rams. They certainly showed that as they raced out to an early 31-14 as everyone in the Whai chipped in with some great looks. The Whai would do a great job of smothering the Jets’ two leading scorers, with both Poplar Jr and Sand combining for only 6 points halfway through the second. Although it wouldn’t be long before\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite being down 29 points, the Jets would come close the gap down to 11 with 6 minutes in the third quarter as the Whai would go cold. They’d continue the barrage and outscore the Whai 30-14 in the 3rd. The Jets would continue the momentum and eventually take the lead as league leading scorer Reuben Te Rangi would foul out with 8 mins left in the 4th quarter. The two teams would battle, and then Corey Webster would come up some massive buckets to counteract the scoring of Taine Murray. With 5 seconds left, a costly foul from the Whai would allow Kaden two free throws which he would convert. The Whai wouldn’t be able to convert final points and would lose a tough one at home.<\/p>\n
