John Travolta brought a new look to the Cannes Film Festival 2026.<\/a><\/p>\n

The actor looked unrecognizable on Friday in a slouchy, cream-colored wool beret and a pair of glasses at the premiere of his directorial debut, \u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 72-year-old looked dapper in a classic black suit over a knit vest, white shirt and tie.<\/p>\n

He walked the red carpet and posed for photos with his 26-year-old daughter, Ella,<\/a> who stars in the movie alongside her dad and looked glam in a black dress and diamonds.<\/p>\n

The pair were joined by their 11-year-old co-star\u00a0Clark Shotwell and Travolta\u2019s co-producer Jason Berger.<\/p>\n

Just before the film\u2019s screening at the Debussy Theater, Travolta was surprised with an honorary Palme d\u2019Or.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is beyond the Oscar,\u201d an emotional Travolta \u2014 who was nominated for two Best Actor Academy Awards for 1977\u2019s \u201cSaturday Night Fever\u201d and 1994\u2019s \u201cPulp Fiction\u201d \u2014 said as he accepted the award from Cannes director Thierry Fr\u00e9maux, per Variety.<\/a><\/p>\n

As the crowd cheered, Travolta continued, \u201cI can\u2019t believe this. This is the last thing I expected.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou said this would be a special night, but I didn\u2019t think you meant this,\u201d he told Fr\u00e9maux.<\/p>\n

The \u201cGrease\u201d star called the honor \u201chumbling\u201d and thanked Fr\u00e9maux for the Palme d\u2019Or, which Peter Jackson and Barbra Streisand are also receiving at this year\u2019s festival.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I met with you in November, I had no expectation that my film would be accepted,\u201d Travolta told Fr\u00e9maux. \u201cAnd when Thierry said it was not only accepted, but it was making history because it would be the first film ever accepted that early, I cried like a baby because I just couldn\u2019t believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fr\u00e9maux revealed that Travolta\u2019s directorial debut, which is based on his own 1997 children\u2019s book, was the first film chosen for Cannes 2026. <\/p>\n

He also called Travolta \u201cone of the greatest artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach\u201d follows a young airplane enthusiast named Jeff (Shotwell) and his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett), who go on a one-way, cross-country journey to Hollywood, according to Variety.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Ella plays a flight attendant in the film.<\/p>\n

Travolta welcomed Ella in April 2000 with late wife Kelly Preston, who\u00a0died of breast cancer\u00a0<\/a>at age 57 in 2020.<\/p>\n

The couple also welcomed two sons, Ben, 15, <\/a>and Jett,<\/a>\u00a0who tragically passed away at the age of 16 in January 2009 after suffering a seizure during a family vacation to the Bahamas.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ella has made a name\u00a0the fashion world<\/a>, making an appearance on\u00a0the cover of HardCopy Magazine\u2019s \u201cFantazia\u201d issue<\/a> last November.<\/p>\n

She made her acting debut in the 2009 Disney comedy film \u201d Old Dogs,\u201d which starred her parents.<\/p>\n
