CENTRAL POINT, Ore. \u2013 A local favorite professional boxing show is back in Medford Saturday. The Medford Armory is hosting the Rogue Valley Rumble XV.<\/p>\n

The event will feature music, food, and of course multiple fighters, including some from Southern Oregon. Scottie Stockman lives in Medford and has been competing in professional combat sports for over ten years. He said, \u201cI think fighting is the only thing that is mental, physical, emotional and spiritual.\u201d Leon Cavalli lives in Cave Junction and he added, \u201cEverything else goes away, all your problems in life, everything. It\u2019s just you\u2019re living in the moment entirely.\u201d<\/p>\n

These local fighters are putting on the finishing touches in their game. \u201cIt\u2019s late nights and early mornings,\u201d Stockman said. Abraham Martin from Medford is also competing. \u201cTrain hard and slowly let the weight drop off naturally,\u201d he added. They\u2019ve spent weeks training, dieting and refining their craft, on top of balancing everything else, \u201cGo to work, get off, I\u2019ve got to pick up my kid, take her to soccer and I got to squeeze in workouts,\u201d Martin said. \u201cI already feel like a winner already you know but the fight is just extra credit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cavalli said sticking to that regiment takes a lot of discipline and dedication, \u201cThose days where you\u2019re getting off work and you don\u2019t want to go to the gym, but you choose to anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

All three of the local fighters have competed for several years, it\u2019s something all of them say they love to do. But being able to do it in their backyard at Medford is an added bonus. \u201cHere in Southern Oregon, we\u2019ve got great fight fans, everybody always loves great fights. They always show out and we couldn\u2019t do it without them,\u201d Mike Wilson said. He\u2019s a former decorated heavyweight boxer and has been putting the Rogue Valley Rumble on for years. He said it\u2019s about giving local fighters a platform to showcase their skills in their own backyard,<\/p>\n

\u201cFather time always gets the best of you, so you can\u2019t do this forever and you know it\u2019s just kind of my way to still be a part of it,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cAll these guys they put a lot of work in, this is a lifestyle that you got to live and take serious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson said attendees can expect exciting fights like Cavalli who is rematching an opponent. The first fight, a little over a year ago, Cavalli\u2019s only career victory by decision, but he\u2019s looking to put a stamp on it this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good fight,\u201d Cavalli said. \u201cI\u2019m prepared to make him drown; I\u2019m going to try and push the pressure. He got really tired in the fifth round of our last fight, I think if I put a pace on it, he\u2019s going to quit before the end of the fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

At this point in their training, all the fighters are looking forward to making weight and being able to rehydrate and rest before the show starts. Stockman said there\u2019s no feeling quite like walking into the ring,<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a very honest moment, like when you step in there you realize like, \u2018what do I have?\u2019 There\u2019s no lying to yourself once you\u2019re in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fights are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., Saturday at the Medford Armory. More information can be found online.<\/p>\n
