{"id":674023,"date":"2026-05-16T04:39:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T04:39:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/674023\/"},"modified":"2026-05-16T04:39:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T04:39:16","slug":"supercars-refuelling-folk-hero-makes-indycar-switch-in-time-for-indy-500","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/674023\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars refuelling folk hero makes IndyCar switch in time for Indy 500"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RILEY Beggs, Matt Stone Racing\u2019s viral hit of the 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000, is set to join Juncos Hollinger Racing full-time, kicking off with next weekend\u2019s 110th running of the Indianapolis 500.<\/p>\n<p>Hailing from Mackay in Queensland, Beggs kicked off his professional motorsport tour with a work experience gig with Matt Stone Racing at Townsville in 2021.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/the-cult-hero-behind-viral-bathurst-helmet\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">He shot to the forefront at Bathurst last year with the team, when the \u201cbest refueller in pitlane\u201d was spotted with his now famous \u201cstraight in, no kissing helmet.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, North America is set to take on board some high-performing Aussie pit work, with the JHR team fielding the cars of Rinus Veekay and Sting Ray Robb.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe IndyCar opportunity came up through a mate that was in Supercars who flew over early last year to do it,\u201d Beggs told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to go to America to do IndyCar or NASCAR, but I just didn\u2019t know who to ask.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got a trial in Milwaukee at their race event, so I flew over.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a great fit, so here we are now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"255882\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/riley-beggs2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-255882\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"255883\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/riley-beggs1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-255883\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"255881\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/riley-beggs-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-255881\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Beggs gets one last shot at Aussie racing this weekend.
