A married couple have been found dead in a suspected murder-suicide<\/a> in a quiet Tasmanian town.<\/p>\n

The man and woman, both aged in their 60s, were found at the property on Native Corners Rd in the small Tasmanian<\/a> town of Campania, north of Hobart, about 10am on Friday.<\/p>\n

Police said a close family member alerted emergency services after reportedly receiving \u201cdeath threats\u201d from the man.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector David Gill told media the crime scene was \u201cextremely confronting\u201d for first responders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese images that they have seen will stay with them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOut of respect of the family members \u2014 and due to the nature of the investigation\u2014 I won\u2019t go into too much detail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Initial investigations suggest the woman received grave injuries while the man \u201cended his own life\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvestigations thus far have indicated that it is a family violence case and we are treating this as a murder-suicide,\u201d Gill said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo firearm was located at the scene, and importantly, no firearm was used\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added the incident was contained solely to the home and that there \u201cis no evidence of any ongoing threat to the community\u201d.<\/p>\n

Two family members were commended by Gill for their bravery in assisting police while the incident was unfolding.<\/p>\n

Gill added the couple were not known to police.<\/p>\n
