Holloway 2 Reportedly Stalled By Main Event Stipulation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">According to a report by the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/15\/sports\/conor-mcgregor-finalizing-deal-to-fight-max-holloway-at-ufc-329\/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Post<\/a>, a deal between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway is expected to be finalized for UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, over the next week. Some originally speculated that UFC CEO Dana White has been planning to announce the return of \u201cNotorious\u201d this weekend in effort to take some shine away from a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/ronda-rousey-gina-carano-netflix-latest-news-odds-results-mma\/443306\/ronda-rousey-rips-into-chauvinistic-pig-ruining-ufc-keep-trying-to-fail-upwards-motherf-ker\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">feisty Rousey<\/a>. That would be pretty savage on behalf of UFC, but pettier things have happened in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA).<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Earlier this week, long-time MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, revealed that a McGregor vs. Holloway rematch was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/ufc-news\/443466\/conor-mcgregor-vs-max-holloway-2-on-the-goal-line-for-ufc-329\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201con the goal line,\u201d<\/a> but that didn\u2019t give fight fans a ton of information to work with. Friday\u2019s report by New York Post provided some extra details for McGregor\u2019s potential UFC comeback, which has been nearly five years in the making following his last fight in July 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Per New York Post, McGregor vs. Holloway is expected to take place at 170 pounds. Many expected that to be the case given how big McGregor gets when he\u2019s not fighting, but this will be Holloway\u2019s first appearance at welterweight. The former UFC featherweight champion just moved up to lightweight last year and has produced a 1-1 record ever since, most recently losing his \u201cBMF\u201d title to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">In addition, it appears McGregor\u2019s Team is still pushing hard for his return fight to be three rounds instead of five. Keep in mind, McGregor vs. Holloway 2 would certainly be asked to headline UFC\u2019s International Fight Week this July. As we all know, UFC main events are five rounds with rarely any exceptions.
