Over the years, the IPL franchises have become active on social media, and their digital teams are following the players everywhere. While this is helping the teams to get more views and increase their fan base, it is creating problems for the cricketers. Virat Kohli is not pleased with the trend and has spoken against this culture. He is one of the most famous celebrities in India, and his marriage to Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma has made him the paparazzi’s favourite.

In order to stay away from cameras and fan following, the veteran cricketer has shifted his base to London. He only returns to India to play international matches and the Indian Premier League.

While Kohli has managed to live a private life outside the stadium, he recently revealed the disturbing nature of content culture.

“I love the pressure that comes with the game but not the pressure of anything else,” Kohli said in the RCB podcast.

“I know social media and the fan engagement play a big role but I feel the process needs to be more streamlined. The growth of the fan pages or the fan clubs of the franchises has taken place after a long period. It is not that people were ready from day one,” he added.

Nowadays, it has become vital to give access to continuous coverage on digital platforms. Kohli thinks that the demand for the footage can impact the preparations for the competition, like the IPL.

“When you go out for practice, there are six cameras following you. It is not a comfortable feeling,” he explained.

“You need freedom to work on your game. You are not organic if everything is filmed. It becomes difficult to try new things as your actions are being recorded and it could lead to discussions on the way I practice. I should be judged on the basis of my performance and not how I prepare for a game. No one has the right to judge me on what I am doing behind the scenes.”

Kohli expressed the need for the officials and the digital team to set clear rules and regulations in place, considering the players’ comfort in mind.

“We need to draw a line. It is important to understand whether a player is okay with being filmed. I think these things need to be taken into account because it is getting to much.”

Virat shared an instance when he was talking to Kane Williamson, and Champak, the robotic dog, started interfering. Kane is associated with the Lucknow Super Giants in the 19th season.

“I was talking to Kane, who is my friend. We were having a serious conversation, and I saw a hand-waving gesture of a dog. I told the guy operating it to take him away. I can’t have a conversation with Kane without it being filmed. I need a space to talk to Kane freely.”

“It becomes a new if I talk to someone from the dressing room to the field,” Kohli concluded.

Kohli is focusing on helping the Royal Challengers Bengaluru win their second consecutive title, and he recently scored a hundred against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He has scored 9 centuries in the history of the tournament and completed 14,000 runs in the shortest format of the game.

Virat has crossed the 400-run mark in the ongoing season and is one of the favourites to win the Orange Cap in the Indian Premier League 2026.

RCB have made it to the playoffs after winning eight matches, and if they win their remaining two contest, the Rajat Patidar-led team will finish among the top two franchises.

Over the years, the IPL franchises have become active on social media, and their digital teams are following…

[564
64,63,740,31775,72835,85,2131
post-674873","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-cricket","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-cricket","tag-ipl-2026","tag-royal-challengers-bengaluru","tag-sports","tag-virat-kohli
["GET
