12-point win over the Western Bulldogs<\/a>, Fraser said he was \u201cblown away\u201d by the support Patrick Cripps had provided and revealed whether or not he has hopes for the role long-term.<\/p>\n\u201cReally, really happy for the club \u2026 Vossy is such a loved figure and the way the group was able to galvanise and turn up tonight to perform was outstanding,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been fortunate that I\u2019ve been at Carlton previously and I\u2019ve seen the growth in Crippa not only as a player but as a leader.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought the way he led the leadership group this week and the way he turned up \u2013 even the support he gave me! I was a little bit blown away to be fair because I guess all the baggage he\u2019s carried over a long period of time.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s an outstanding individual.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was as simple as \u2018Mate, whatever you need, we\u2019re here for you\u2019. That\u2019s sometimes all you need to know \u2013 that you\u2019ve got a group of leaders in your corner.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a couple of conversations this week, we sowed the seed earlier around our pressure and what that looks like and he drove that through the group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cripps himself was emotional speaking post-match after the club\u2019s first win since early March and only the second of 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m proud of the boys! Big emotional week,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, it\u2019s tough \u2026 especially as a captain, leadership group, senior player, (you) have a huge amount of respect for your senior coach \u2026 not going to lie mate, I was flat. Just because I respect him so highly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I\u2019m proud of the boys is the energy we created throughout the week. We felt the emotion of it.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone felt it different ways. But then when we came in to train the next day, we got back to work.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo team\u2019s going to feel sorry for us, mate. They are going to come out and compete. It was our job to show up tonight.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was nice to finish of a game full of run.\u201d<\/p>\n

For just the third time this season, the Blues won a final quarter \u2013 but they did it in style against the Bulldogs by piling on five straight goals to effectively seal the match.<\/p>\n
While the Dogs scrapped a few late goals to close the final margin, Fraser said he was happy with how the match turned out.<\/p>\n
\u201cI really enjoyed it (coaching) \u2013 it\u2019s worth me shouting out right now all our assistant coaches. I think this is a real collective approach,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great experience for me \u2013 I\u2019ll learn a lot from tonight.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey kicked a couple quickly and you never quite feel safe!\u201d<\/p>\n

On asked whether the win fuelled his desire to apply for the head coach role for 2027, Fraser was honest about his ambitions.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you can guarantee me it\u2019s like this every week,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think my answer is going to be pretty consistent \u2013 I\u2019ve got ambitions to do it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like I\u2019m still growing as coach. I probably don\u2019t feel like I\u2019m quite ready.<\/p>\n
