<\/p>\nRonda Rousey and Gina Carano will finally meet inside the cage for a historic mixed martial arts fight this afternoon.<\/p>\n
Rousey (12-2) and Carano (7-1) are legends of women’s MMA, but their paths had not crossed until now.<\/p>\n
Their meeting will headline a debut MMA event for Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, rather than in the UFC.<\/p>\n
Netflix has the broadcast rights to this fight, a historic milestone for their first-ever MMA event after making inroads with major boxing matches, including Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul and Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov.<\/p>\n
The fight will follow the Unified Rules of MMA, which all major promotions including the UFC also follow.<\/p>\n
Rousey vs. Carano is scheduled for five rounds of five minutes. They will wear four-ounce gloves.<\/p>\n
There is no world championship on the line, but history is certainly at stake.<\/p>\n
Carano was feted as a pioneer of women’s MMA before Rousey’s popularity enabled it to explode on the UFC scene. Now, the two icons will share a cage.<\/p>\n
Rousey, now 39, hasn’t fought in a decade. Her dominance in the UFC was ended by a famous loss to Holly Holm and a subsequent stoppage defeat against Amanda Nunes.<\/p>\n
Carano is now 44 and hasn’t fought since 2009.<\/p>\n

The event will also feature the MMA return of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, plus Nate Diaz is in action.<\/p>\n

The former UFC heavyweight champion returns to MMA against Brazil\u2019s Philipe Lins.<\/p>\n
The matchup marks another major chapter in Ngannou\u2019s combat sports career following his crossover into boxing and dominant 2024 PFL championship run.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the fight, Ngannou says, while the world was busy talking, he was busy evolving.<\/p>\n
He adds silence should not be mistaken for absence \u2014 it is the sound of a predator closing the distance.<\/p>\n
The ever-popular Diaz is stepping back into action against fellow veteran Mike Perry.<\/p>\n
Ex-UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is fighting Robelis Despaigne.<\/p>\n
