{"id":677635,"date":"2026-05-18T00:39:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T00:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/677635\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T00:39:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T00:39:09","slug":"man-found-dead-after-fire-at-block-of-units-at-wendouree-in-ballarat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/677635\/","title":{"rendered":"Man found dead after fire at block of units at Wendouree in Ballarat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A 62-year-old man has died in a house fire in the Ballarat suburb of Wendouree this morning, about 1.5 hours north-west of Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Emergency services were called to the fire at a block of units on Marigold Street about 6:30am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police said neighbours called Triple Zero (000) and used a fire extinguisher to try to suppress the flames.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">When firefighters arrived, they found the man alone, inside and unresponsive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"two police cars outside a block of units with rubbish and a mattress next to a tree\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/f092be09c8c710fd3ba109b53e15acd5.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">A crime scene has been established at the block of units in Marigold Street, Wendouree.
