Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Don\u010di\u0107 did not receive a single first-place vote in the MVP voting as revealed on Sunday, though he did receive one second-place vote, eight third-place votes, 60 fourth-place votes and 23 fifth-place votes.<\/p>\n
He ultimately finished a distant fourth in the voting behind Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Denver’s Nikola Joki\u0107 and San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama. <\/p>\n
Don\u010di\u0107, 27, had a fantastic season when healthy, averaging an NBA-leading 33.5 points along with 8.8 assists and 7.7 rebounds while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 36.6 percent from three in 64 games. <\/p>\n
While he didn’t meet the 65-game threshold required for league awards, the NBA ultimately granted him an exception after he appealed based on the “extraordinary circumstances” clause in the collective bargaining agreement.<\/p>\n
“The NBA and NBPA agreed that, taking into account the totality of the circumstances for [Cade] Cunningham and Don\u010di\u0107, each player qualified for awards,” the league and union said in a joint statement<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n Don\u010di\u0107 based his appeal on missing two games in December after traveling abroad for the birth of his daughter.<\/p>\n
