{"id":678866,"date":"2026-05-18T15:43:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T15:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/678866\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T15:43:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T15:43:10","slug":"fabio-quartararo-had-goosebumps-passing-alex-marquez-motogp-crash-scene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/678866\/","title":{"rendered":"Fabio Quartararo \u201chad goosebumps\u201d passing Alex Marquez MotoGP crash scene"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yamaha\u2019s Fabio Quartararo says it was tough to restart the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix after passing by the Alex Marquez crash site.<\/p>\n<p>The Gresini Ducati rider suffered a terrifying collision with KTM\u2019s Pedro Acosta on the back straight between Turns 9 and 10 on lap 12 of the grand prix.<\/p>\n<p>Acosta\u2019s bike lost power due to an electrical issue, with Alex Marquez unable to avoid him, before being sent into a sickening crash.<\/p>\n<p>Marquez suffered multiple fractures, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/news\/1095624\/1\/gresini-gives-positive-alex-marquez-update-after-shocking-catalunya-motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">but has had successful surgery and is set to leave hospital on Monday afternoon.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The race was restarted, but stopped again <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/news\/1095586\/1\/johann-zarco-more-scared-hurt-after-catalunya-motogp-crash\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">for a crash involving Johann Zarco<\/a>, before a second restart was ordered.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Show X Embedded Content<\/p>\n<p>Loading this video will expose you to potential cookies and tracking by the provider<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot easy to restart after crossing the bridge at Turn 10, looking at Alex on the floor,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/911998\/fabio-quartararo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fabio Quartararo<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had goosebumps. Then the second restart, the most dangerous thing is the start and I don\u2019t like it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I hope, and I wish, all a speedy recovery to the riders that are injured. So, we are really far away, and we have no idea how to improve.
