Bindi Irwin<\/a> says she’s finally starting to feel like herself again after undergoing her emergency appendectomy<\/a> earlier this summer, which also resulted in the removal of 14 endometriosis lesions and a hernia repair<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Crocodile Hunter’s daughter has previously spoken out about her diagnosis of endometriosis<\/a>, with the pain becoming so severe during her pregnancy with her daughter, Grace Warrior, that she feared she was experiencing a miscarriage<\/a>, but doctors dismissed her pain<\/a> when she sought help.<\/p>\n

Now, following her second surgery, things are finally starting to look up, which she shared with her fans in a vulnerable new update on Instagram today, Aug. 13.<\/p>\n

“13 years of fighting for answers. 51 endometriosis lesions, a chocolate cyst<\/a>, and my appendix were all removed across two surgeries with @seckinmd. My hernia from giving birth that was unzipping – was taken care of,” she recounted alongside a sunshiny selfie. “I can FINALLY say that I\u2019m feeling better. Genuinely healing. I can function in everyday life without wanting to throw up or pass out from the pain. Slowly, slowly gaining my strength back.”<\/p>\n

“I cannot express the gravity of my emotions as I am beginning to recognise myself again,” she continued. “I felt utterly ashamed as a teenager and young adult being told that my pain was just part of being a woman. I felt lesser. I felt hurt. I felt weak.”<\/p>\n

Irwin, who is determined to turn her experience into something positive for other women<\/a> to learn from, concluded, “That is not ok. Young girls and women shouldn\u2019t feel alone with pain in the driver\u2019s seat of their lives. We need to take away the stigma of talking about women\u2019s health. It\u2019s time to have open discussions and make change on a global scale.”<\/p>\n

Followers were “so proud” of the conservationist for taking on this new role, with one gushing, “I could not think of a better ambassador and role model for women going through this disease than you. So proud of you and excited for your new beginning \ud83d\udc9b you have bloomed \ud83e\udd8b.”<\/p>\n

“So proud of you for speaking up and sharing your journey \ud83d\udc4f\ud83d\udc4f\ud83d\udc4f\ud83d\udc4f,” another declared.<\/p>\n
