{"id":68165,"date":"2025-08-14T17:30:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T17:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/68165\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T17:30:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T17:30:09","slug":"jannik-sinner-claims-theres-a-player-on-the-atp-tour-with-huge-potential-who-hes-never-beaten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/68165\/","title":{"rendered":"Jannik Sinner claims there&#8217;s a player on the ATP Tour with &#8216;huge potential&#8217; who he&#8217;s never beaten"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Jannik Sinner has battled into the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Open, where he faces a reunion with Felix Auger-Aliassime.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sinner<\/a> is the top seed at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/atp-cincinnati-open-2025-who-is-playing-how-to-watch-and-what-is-the-prize-money\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cincinnati Open<\/a>, and is playing his first tournament since winning Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>And the world number one is now into the latter stages of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP<\/a> Masters 1000 event after knocking out Adrian Mannarino.<\/p>\n<p>In a match that was suspended due to rain, Sinner eventually triumphed 6-4, 7-6(7-4) over the Frenchman.<\/p>\n<p>Mannarino was enjoying a dream run in Cincinnati, having overcome Jordan Thompson, Tomas Machac and Tommy Paul before losing to Sinner.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2229644917-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Jannik Sinner of Italy celebrates his win against Gabriel Diallo of Canada during the Cincinnati Open at Lindner Family Tennis Center.\" class=\"wp-image-120309\" \/>Photo by Matthew Stockman\/Getty ImagesJannik Sinner says ATP player he\u2019s never beaten has \u2018huge potential\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The victor\u2019s focus now quickly turns to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/felix-auger-aliassime-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Auger-Aliassime<\/a>, who has knocked out Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Arthur Rinderknech and Benjamin Bonzi to reach the last eight.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner said of his next opponent on Tennis Channel: \u201cI have never won against Felix. This is one service which suits him very, very well, with the game style that he plays and it\u2019s going to be very difficult. But at the same time I am looking forward to this match.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like these challenges and hopefully I can raise the level. Hopefully I can do it, because if I want to play even with him I have to raise my level, so let\u2019s see.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQuarterfinals is always a later stage of the tournament, I like to be in that situation and I feel usually quite happy and I\u2019m looking forward to it so let\u2019s see what is going to happen but he\u2019s a tough opponent. Actually I did not have many chances against him today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had some break chances in the first set, I could not use them. He was serving very well. So I felt like here it is very difficult to play tennis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it\u2019s a little bit breezy, we saw today that it can be windy and it can rain, then one second after the sun is out and you never know what is happening and you have to stay there mentally.
