The Seattle Seahawks<\/a> won\u2019t be heading overseas for a game in 2026<\/a>, but their odds to do so in 2027 just increased.<\/p>\n

The league\u2019s owners approved a proposal on Tuesday to increase the maximum international games from eight to 10<\/a>, not including the annual Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> game at Wembley Stadium. The decision follows a record nine international games being put on the 2026 schedule, including two of the Seahawks\u2019 NFC West rivals, the San Francisco 49ers<\/a> and the Los Angeles Rams<\/a>, both having to break out their passports for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

In 2026, the NFL is set for three games in London and one each in Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Spain and France<\/p>\n

Despite being one of the more popular franchises overseas, the Seahawks have only played in three international games, going 2-1 in those efforts. Most recently, the Seahawks faced off with the then-Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> in the league\u2019s first venture into Munich, Germany. While Seattle\u2019s comeback effort fell short in that game, it did feature former Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen<\/a> putting Brady<\/a> on a poster on a trick play, so it wasn\u2019t a total loss.<\/p>\n

The other two trips out of the United States have been smooth for Seattle, putting up 50 points on the Buffalo Bills<\/a> in Canada in 2012 and cruising past a battered Raiders<\/a> team, 27-3, in London in 2018.<\/p>\n

In addition to the expanded offerings, teams can no longer protect certain home games, allowing the NFL to schedule more divisional and pivotal matchups overseas moving forward. While the Seahawks don\u2019t need passports for this upcoming season, don\u2019t be shocked to see Devon Witherspoon<\/a> at your local post office in 2027, if the team\u2019s success continues.
