He added, \u201cI look forward to being back soon and [I\u2019m] thankful to all those who have reached out with their well wishes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Advertisement &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>It is not yet known when Moore will return to the commentary box. He has led the ABC\u2019s rugby league coverage since joining from 2GB in 2015, following earlier stints at 2UE and 2SM during a four-decade media career. He has hosted his own shows and has worked across a wide range of sports since making the move to the ABC.<\/p>\n<p>ABC Sport content director Tim Verrall described Moore as \u201cone of the most respected and loved broadcasters in the country\u201d. He said the team was \u201cenormously relieved\u201d that Moore was receiving the care he needed. \u201cWe look forward to welcoming him back when he\u2019s recovered and we send our thoughts to Andrew and his family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Moore\u2019s recent schedule included four NRL matches in the previous round, with travel to both Melbourne and Newcastle. His co-commentator Luke Lewis said Moore\u2019s absence would be keenly felt. \u201cAndrew is the best in the business. We are going to miss him in the next little period but his first priority has to be getting his health right. I know he will be back and at the top of his game again soon,\u201d Lewis said.<\/p>\n<p>Former coach and long-time colleague Matt Elliott added: \u201cAndrew\u2019s commitment to what he does, the people he works with and our listeners reflects the quality of person that he is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Listeners have also been quick to express their support. On Reddit\u2019s rugby league forum, one fan wrote: \u201cListening to Grandstand is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Hope he\u2019s ok.\u201d Another said Moore was \u201cas good as rugby league gets\u201d, while a Parramatta supporter described him as \u201cone of my favourites. Iconic voice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some referred to his trademark phrases, with comments such as \u201cStrikes it. Likes it. He\u2019s kicked the goal!\u201d and \u201cThank goodness it\u2019s not yet game set bingo.\u201d Others shared how his calls form part of their weekly ritual. \u201cMy six-year-old likes to join me in the garage for the 2pm game when I\u2019m working on something and we\u2019ll listen to the game on the ABC,\u201d one wrote. Another added: \u201cMany nights when my kids are holding the TV down I listen to him on the wireless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Advertisement &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Several listeners called him the \u201cvoice of footy\u201d, praising his mix of accuracy and humour. \u201cThe best in the business. Get well soon champion,\u201d one fan posted, while another said, \u201cHe helms a great team, on both sides of the mic. Best wishes to him and his fam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moore\u2019s versatility was also noted, with one comment reading: \u201cThe best NRL commentator in the business, and he also does the cricket in the summer.
