The Giants running back recently set a lofty goal for the 2026 NFL season, and the NFL world quickly roasted him.<\/p>\n

Cam Skattebo 2,000-Yard Prediction Prompts NFL Community to Roast His Math Skills<\/p>\n

\u201cI had 400 yards on 100 carries. When I play 17-plus games this year, it\u2019s going to be 300 carries for over 2,000 yards,\u201d said Skattebo<\/a>, who ranked 34th in PFSN\u2019s Running Back Impact metric<\/a> last season.<\/p>\n

The NFL world was quick to point out that Skattebo\u2019s math was a bit off. Skattebo rushed for 410 yards on 4.1 yards per carry. Even if he got 300 carries, he\u2019d total 1,230 yards. This would be a solid season, but he\u2019d fall well below his 2,000-yard goal.<\/p>\n

After all, 2,000 yards would be a historic feat, as only nine players in NFL history have hit this mark in a single season: Saquon Barkley<\/a>, Derrick Henry<\/a>, Adrian Peterson<\/a>, Chris Johnson<\/a>, Jamal Lewis, Terrell Davis, Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson, O.J. Simpson.<\/p>\n

Many NFL observers clowned Skattebo\u2019s math skills after his quote went viral.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report\u2019s Daniel Harms kept it short and simple, writing<\/a>, \u201cThe math isn\u2019t mathing, Cam.\u201d<\/p>\n

Establish the Run\u2019s Pat Thorman chimed in<\/a>, \u201cWhen a kid runs padless into telephone poles grows up and tries math.\u201d<\/p>\n

One football YouTuber was blunt and brutally funny<\/a>: \u201c\u2026this man\u2019s contract is void. He is clearly incompetent of consent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kicker\u2019s Adrian Franke poked fun at Skattebo\u2019s questionable arithmetic.<\/p>\n

TMZ\u2019s Michael Grier also got in on the fun.<\/p>\n

Not everyone was making fun of Skattebo, though. Former Super Bowl champion Mitchell Schwartz came to his defense<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just as quick to make fun of people as the next guy but he was not doing some math extrapolation. He\u2019s just saying he wants 300+ carries and he thinks if he gets that he can go over 2,000 yards,\u201d Schwartz wrote.<\/p>\n

Regardless, nobody should be surprised by Skattebo\u2019s confidence. His personality and chip-on-his-shoulder approach to the game is part of what made him a fan favorite in recent years. He\u2019s a character who\u2019s gritty, physical, and plays with a motor that doesn\u2019t quit.<\/p>\n

Those qualities helped him impress throughout his rookie year before his dislocated ankle, fractured fibula, and ruptured deltoid ligament ended his season in Week 8.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also been open about how difficult his recovery has been mentally.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously there\u2019s ups and downs in the injury process,\u201d he said recently. \u201cThe mental battle has been the hardest part: making sure that I trust it fully.\u201d He did make one thing crystal clear though. He fully expects to be ready for Week 1 of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n
