(ABC News: Floss Adams)<\/p>\n<p>Residents yet to return home<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Across the Mid North Coast, many other flood survivors are still finding their feet, with some yet to move back into their homes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">For those residents, the focus remains on making properties habitable, with flood proofing often limited to using more water-resistant materials in rebuilds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Wingham was one of the worst-hit areas, and the local Manning Valley Neighbourhood Service, funded by the NSW Reconstruction Authority, has so far supported more than 600 people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A year after the natural disaster, it is still taking on new cases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;In February and March alone we had 14 new intakes,&#8221; centre manager Kate Darnell said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A woman in her 30s sitting at her computer turning to camera, smiling - a spreadsheet blurry on the screen in front of her.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/84696001b2dc2aa93119d3255bace062.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Kate Darnell says they have helped 600 people and some people are accessing support now for the first time. (Supplied: Craig Emerton)<\/p>\n<p>Loading&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Emerton said he was slowly building back his herd, but was still about 25 per cent down on milk production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The rain stopped at the end of August and hasn&#8217;t started properly again \u2026 we&#8217;re basically in drought. We&#8217;ve got a green drought,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been flat out sowing our winter feed. We couldn&#8217;t sell at the moment if we wanted to. There are places for sale, but nothing is selling on the flood plain,&#8221; Mr Emerton said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve lived in this house all my life.
