Could a star import who helped the Tasmania JackJumpers to a championship in NBL24 be on his way back to \u2018defend the island\u2019?<\/p>\n
Milton Doyle was an All-NBL First Team member in 2023 and a title winner a year later in Tasmania, and it seems he could be in the mix to reunite with Scott Roth in NBL27.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve still got a number of guys that we’re looking at,\u201d General Manager of Basketball Darren Smith said on Thursday. \u201cMilton’s a free agent, so it would be silly not to at least consider him.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt least we know what he’s like and we’ve had him here and had success.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo he’s in the mix of a bunch of guys that we’re considering.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Doyle spent three seasons with the JackJumpers before moving to Melbourne United last season, but with Tasmania still yet to lock in any imports for next season, he looms as a potential wildcard.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe had an up-and-down last season, but he\u2019s obviously one of the premier shooting guards \u2026 he\u2019s a name I\u2019ve heard they\u2019ve reached out to \u2026 along with one other team,\u201d ESPN\u2019s Olgun Uluc said on The Marketplace, presented by Paywise. <\/p>\n
\u201cThat makes sense,\u201d Peter Hooley added.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou want someone who understands the style of play, somebody who\u2019s still more than capable of filling it up on any given night.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe still averages 16 points a night. He\u2019s somebody that, when you need someone to take over the game, he can do that.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would love to see that. It really does fit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Doyle averaged 16.2 points, 4.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds across the NBL26 campaign with United. He is a Free Agent ahead of the Hungry Jack’s NBL27 Season.<\/p>\n
