As the New York Knicks have become one of the best teams in the NBA, their home games at Madison Square Garden are exclusive events.

Therefore, the celebrity row at MSG is the place to be for the Knicks’ playoff run. One of the biggest and most familiar faces courtside at Knicks games is Tracy Morgan, a New York City native who had been a Knicks fan for essentially his entire.

When Morgan is in attendance, he’s usually sitting on celebrity row with names like Timothee Chalamet, Spike Lee and Ben Stiller. These tickets are coveted, and getting access to them doesn’t just mean spending the most money, even if they are expensive.

Here’s how Morgan is able to sit courtside at Knicks games.

How much does Tracy Morgan pay for Knicks tickets?

Morgan, like many celebrities with money, can’t just offer the highest bid for these seats, as Madison Square Garden decides who to invite to the courtside seats. As a dedicated and loyal Knicks fan who grew up in New York, Morgan has good standing with the team and is usually at the top of the invite list.

“You cannot buy your way in there,” former Knicks PR chief Joe Favorito said. “It is curated, invite only, and approved by management.”

While these tickets used to be free, according to the New York Post, celebrities now have to pay for their seats during the games. That means that Morgan and other celebrities could be asked to shell out around $200,000 if they want to attend every regular-season home game.

How much does Tracy Morgan’s seats cost?

Courtside seats at Knicks games can vary, but they usually cost between $4,000 and $6,000 before they get upcharged. AS Morgan is one of a few celebrities who get the first crack at landing these tickets, he likely only pays the initial price and not the upcharged one.

The Knicks and MSG see value in curating a celebrity row, which is why those tickets were free for many years. Therefore, celebrities like Morgan don’t get asked to pay more than the standard price for courtside seats.

How long has Tracy Morgan had Knicks season tickets?

Morgan is a long-time Knicks fan who grew up in Brooklyn and has lived pretty much his entire life in New York City.

“I’m not a fair-weather fan. I’m with the good, bad and ugly. I’m always going to be a fan. I’m a New Yorker. I’m a New York fan,” Morgan said.

Morgan doesn’t necessarily need season tickets as he is one of many celebrities who get their seats on celebrity row “based on their broad approval and level of popularity,” per the New York Post. Morgan is one of a few celebrities, like Timothee Chalamet and Ben Stiller, who get first crack at attending games since they are so loyal to the team.

Morgan is usually able to snag two courtside seats to games.
