At the end of the day, I need bums on seats. When you’re paying how much money I’m paying in rent to fill the restaurant.

“It’s got the pine cones, which are dropping all the seeds.”

She said the objection and council fee are “ridiculous”, as she believes that all the other pubs and restaurants along Darling Street in Balmain do not get complaints, but a small business like hers, which is “trying to make ends meet and trying to make a living”, gets slapped with a huge fee.

The complaint didn’t just stop at the outside awning. Once the council noticed her illegal demountable structure, they chimed into her kitchen, claiming her rangehood had not been approved either.

“So now they’ve hit me with, I have to get a private certifier, an engineer, whatever they call them, to come and approve that that rangehood is all to the specifications, which was here when I came into the place, mind you,” she said.

Her husband believes this will all cost them around $25,000.

Ms Camardi and her family have been given a 30-day notice to pay the fee that the Inner West Council have given her.

Otherwise, she will be forced to remove the structure, therefore inhibiting customers from sitting outside safely.

Since posting to TikTok, there has been a lot of positive responses to the face of Mrs Pasta, Angela Camardi, with loyal followers offering support.

“Shameful that the council spends their time ripping down small businesses instead of using their time to help build them up. Best of luck,” one user commented.

“Donated, hope this helps! Best of luck, can’t wait to come soon!” another added.

“Money hungry councils. No inspector charges $15k to look at something. Wishing you success with this issue,” someone else shared.

Whereas some followers were a bit unsympathetic with Ms Camardi’s plea, with one user commenting, “You make your money love. Pay it”.

“I agree you need the awning and you problem-solved this situation, but why didn’t you get it approved in the first place? You left yourself open to this risk and it’s a bit unfair to shame the council for that?” another user added.

Mrs Pasta gained a huge social media following, particularly on TikTok, for highlighting the restaurant as a homemade family owned business with food made with love.

Mrs Pasta and the family behind the business have set up a GoFundMe to help them pay some of the fee.

News.com.au has reached out to Inner West Council for comment but did not receive a response.

Read related topics:Sydney

A Sydney-based Italian restaurant is in a feud with the local council after a “Karen” complained over the…

[4
335966,64,63,689,335957,184152,335954,276124,335962,335947,335942,335943,335963,335956,335949,335953,335964,335958,335961,335945,335959,673,44,677,335965,335941,335951,335946,335944,335952,335940,335960,203732,322170,335948,1314,158309,335939,196838,335955,335950
post-687923","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-australia","tag-ass-freaking-pine","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-australia-and-new-zealand","tag-authentic-italian-recipes","tag-balmain","tag-business-due","tag-cafe-owner","tag-council-bill","tag-council-fee","tag-council-permission-fees","tag-council-visit","tag-donation-page","tag-followers-offering-support","tag-freaking-pine-tree","tag-issued-noise-complaints","tag-italian-restaurant","tag-italian-restaurant-owner","tag-loyal-followers-offering","tag-massive-pine-tree","tag-money-love","tag-new-south-wales","tag-news","tag-oceania","tag-outdoor-awning","tag-outdoor-dining-area","tag-outdoor-seating-area","tag-outside-area","tag-pine-cones","tag-pine-sticks","tag-pine-tree","tag-positive-response","tag-range-hood","tag-restaurant-item","tag-restaurant-owner","tag-social-media","tag-social-media-followers","tag-store-opening-sparks","tag-sydney-restaurant","tag-sydney-based-italian-restaurant","tag-viral-restaurant
["GET
