Lando Norris believes that it\u2019s \u201cimpossible to know\u201d whether he could have delivered more in Qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix after he came within 0.151s of securing pole position.<\/p>\n
Building on the momentum from his double podium finish in Miami, the McLaren<\/a> driver improved from P3 to P2 in the Canada Sprint<\/a> by passing Mercedes\u2019 Kimi Antonelli during his tense battle<\/a> with eventual winner George Russell.<\/p>\n Norris<\/a> continued his strong form in Qualifying<\/a> and was a contender for the top spot throughout, making the most of McLaren\u2019s latest upgrade package<\/a>, but lost out in the final moments as Russell and Antonelli both improved their lap times.<\/p>\n Asked whether there was anything left on the table during the session, he responded: \u201cIt\u2019s always impossible to know. I feel like we did a good job out there today honestly. I\u2019m sure everyone can say around here, it\u2019s a difficult lap, it\u2019s a difficult track to kind of put everything together perfectly, but I think we did another good job.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s clear that these guys are just that little bit quicker. It\u2019s nice to be closer than we were yesterday. I had fun this morning, of course the weather\u2019s going to be different tomorrow so we\u2019ll wait and see. But we\u2019re in a good place and we\u2019re in a place we need to be.\u201d<\/p>\n He will be joined on the second row by his team mate Oscar Piastri<\/a>, who similarly matched his Sprint Qualifying result as the Woking-based outfit continued to find small improvements in relation to Mercedes<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Australian concluded that the session \u201cwasn\u2019t bad\u201d for the team, but echoed Norris\u2019 sentiments about still finding themselves not quite on the same level as the Silver Arrows.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI think [it was] just a little bit tricky in a few areas, but overall I was pretty happy. We got closer to Mercedes but not quite enough. We tried our best. I think we\u2019re definitely able to put a bit more pressure on but they\u2019ve still got the ultimate pace over us.\u201d<\/p>\n Prompted to look ahead to the race and the potential of rain, he added: \u201cWe\u2019ll wait and see.
