Collingwood will be without Jamie Elliott for the best part of a year after confirmation the star forward suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury.<\/p>\n
Elliott went down in the dying minutes of Collingwood\u2019s win over West Coast on Saturday, souring Scott Pendlebury\u2019s milestone 433rd match.<\/p>\n
The Magpies were optimistic after the game, but scans revealed the full extent of Elliott\u2019s setback on Sunday.<\/p>\n
An ACL recovery can vary but the typical timeline for return is approximately 12 months.<\/p>\n
Elliott, 33, signed a two-year contract extension at the end of 2025, meaning he could at best return with just weeks left on his deal.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are all incredibly disappointed for Jamie,\u201d Collingwood general manager Charlie Gardiner said<\/p>\n
\u201cScans this morning confirmed that he has ruptured his ACL and has also sustained some bone bruising in the knee. <\/p>\n
\u201cJamie has endured a number of significant injury setbacks across his career and for him to face this latest setback is unfortunate for him and his family and for us as a Club.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a much loved and respected leader at our Club and we\u2019re all feeling for him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will miss his on-field presence this year but he will no doubt continue to play an important role across the Club during his recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n
Darcy Moore, meanwhile, also has what the club described as a \u201cmoderate grade\u201d hamstring, while small forward Will Hayes dislocated his shoulder during the last quarter.<\/p>\n
