During post-race technical inspection, officials found the front wing of the #10 car did not conform to the rules.<\/p>\n

Palou escaped disqualification as the issue was related to the assembly of the wing rather than an intentional modification.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring post-race inspection of car No.10, IndyCar Officiating discovered the front wing of car No.10 failed the front wing height measurement,\u201d an IndyCar statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cChip Ganassi Racing was in violation of the following rule involving the speedway front wing end plate \u2013 minimum and maximum heights:<\/p>\n

\u201cRule 14.7.6.8. Front wing must adhere to the following Technical Inspection dimensions<\/p>\n

\u201cRule 14.7.6.7.1. For the purposes of technical inspection, the front wing must not measure less than 8.300 inches when set at any angle, while installed on the IndyCar technical inspection fixture.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndyCar Officiating has determined that the non-compliance was the result of an assembly error and not an intentional modification.<\/p>\n

\u201cCar No. 10 has been penalised five championship driver and entrant points and the team has been fined $10,000 ($14,000 AUD).\u201d<\/p>\n

The team said it would not contest the penalty.<\/p>\n

\u201cChip Ganassi Racing did not attempt to gain an unfair advantage in the race, and accepts this penalty,\u201d a short statement read in part.<\/p>\n

Speaking post-race, Palou told Front Stretch that he got mired in the middle of the top 10 and couldn\u2019t recover.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried everything but we didn\u2019t really have much,\u201d said Palou.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried to get a good restart but I think it was (Rinus) VeeKay who jumped the start a little. He did, like he completely nailed it and I got stuck behind him.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouldn\u2019t really do much. I was hoping for a good restart on my side, but it wasn\u2019t enough today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Palou leads the standings on 273 points, 37 points ahead of Team Penske\u2019s David Malukas.<\/p>\n

IndyCar returns on June 1 in Detroit.<\/p>\n
