{"id":693531,"date":"2026-05-25T13:01:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T13:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/693531\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T13:01:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T13:01:09","slug":"chinese-car-giant-byd-eyes-alpine-route-among-possible-roads-into-formula-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/693531\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese car giant BYD eyes Alpine route among possible roads into Formula 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Formula 1 could welcome its first Chinese team in the coming seasons with electric vehicle giant BYD planning to enter the sport.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The carmaker is looking into a minority stake in an existing team or potentially launching a completely new team.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">BYD has also reportedly approached Christian Horner, the former team principal of Red Bull Racing, after he met with Stella Li, executive vice-president, and Chairman and Chief Executive Wang Chuanfu at a company event in Cannes.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Reports first emerged in March that BYD was exploring entry into F1.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Li said at the time: \u201cDo not be surprised, we are still researching this possibility.
