Jimmy Fallon <\/a>had a clever way of explaining President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s rocky relationship with Vladimir Putin, as the late-night host used Taylor Swift<\/a> songs to break down their history ahead of an upcoming meeting between the two world leaders.<\/p>\n On the Wednesday night (Aug. 13) episode of The Tonight Show, Fallon opened his monologue by saying, \u201cWell, guys, the two big stories right now are Trump and Putin\u2019s summit, and of course, Taylor Swift announcing her new album.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/p>\n The host continued that he and his team decided that \u201cthere\u2019s no better way to explain the summit than by breaking it down using Taylor Swift\u2019s songs,\u201d before launching into the segment. \u201cFor a long time, Trump would look at Putin and think, \u2018You Belong With Me,\u2019 and when the people told him to stay away from Putin, he\u2019d just \u2018Shake It Off\u2019 and shout, \u2018But Daddy I Love Him.’\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut recently, they\u2019ve had some \u2018Bad Blood,\u2019 and of course, Putin has a terrible \u2018Reputation,’\u201d the comedian added as audience members cracked up, tying in references to Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine and the Epstein files scandal. \u201cAmericans are worried that Trump isn\u2019t \u2018Ready for It,\u2019 because his brain is basically a giant \u2018Blank Space.’\u201d<\/p>\n The timely monologue comes as \u2014 as Fallon mentioned \u2014 much of the world is either reeling over the news of Swift announcing her The Life of a Showgirl album or eyeing Trump\u2019s upcoming meeting with Putin. The former took place on Tuesday (Aug. 12), with the pop star revealing more details<\/a> about the Max Martin- and Shellback-produced LP on an episode of Travis Kelce\u2019s New Heights podcast the next day, while the latter is expected to take place in Alaska on Friday (Aug. 15).
