The incident that saw the opening day of practice for the 2026 Isle of Man TT curtailed has left one competitor and eight spectators hospitalised, after a crashed bike on the exit of Ramsey\u2019s Parliament Square entered a fan area and pushed crowd barriers back into spectators.<\/p>\n
Practice got underway on schedule, with opening practice in the Supersport and Supertwin class on Monday morning passing without incident. The same was true for the following Sidecar session.<\/p>\n
However, a red flag during the Superbike and Superstock session brought a halt to proceedings around 1pm, following \u2018the implementation of serious incident protocols\u2019 after the incident in Ramsey.<\/p>\n
That incident, organisers explained after the remainder of the day\u2019s scheduled timed qualifying sessions were cancelled, caused a number of injuries to both the rider involved and some of those spectating.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe competitor was taken to Noble’s Hospital,\u201d they explained in a statement, \u201cand is currently reported as ‘conscious and talking’ with leg injuries, and continues to receive further treatment.<\/p>\n
\u201cEight spectators were identified as requiring treatment. All were reported as conscious, and were transferred to Nobles Hospital for further assessment and treatment.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo ensure the incident was managed as effectively as possible, the decision was made to suspend any further racing activity for the remainder of the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn accordance with the event\u2019s standard operating procedures, an investigative process is now underway involving race, medical and safety personnel.\u201d<\/p>\n
