{"id":694362,"date":"2026-05-25T22:08:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T22:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/694362\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T22:08:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T22:08:07","slug":"edmonton-oilers-sign-high-scoring-free-agent-out-of-finland-daily-hive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/694362\/","title":{"rendered":"Edmonton Oilers sign high-scoring free agent out of Finland | Daily Hive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/edmonton\/offside\/category\/oilers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> have acquired a new player.<\/p>\n<p>The team announced on Monday that it has signed 24-year-old free agent forward Aku R\u00e4ty to a one-year, two-way contract worth $850,000 at the NHL level.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot, 190-pound right winger is coming off a big year in Finland, where he scored 57 points (20-37-57) in 51 games with Karpat \u2014 tying him for seventh in league scoring.<\/p>\n<p>The brother of Vancouver Canucks centre Aatu R\u00e4ty, Aku was a fifth-round draft pick of the Arizona Coyotes in 2019. The Oulu, Finland, native posted 44 points in 55 AHL games with the Tucson Roadrunners in 2023-24, and earned a one-game call-up with the Coyotes that season.
