The population is ageing rapidly, demand for aged care services is rising, and pressure on health and social support systems is intensifying. These shifts will shape Australia\u2019s fiscal and social policy landscape for decades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not simply a budgetary issue. It reflects a long-term demographic rebalancing between working-age and older populations, with significant implications for how social infrastructure is financed, coordinated and sustained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a recent article published in <a href=\"https:\/\/johnmenadue.com\/post\/2025\/11\/beyond-one-size-fits-all-co-design-and-ppps-for-australias-ageing-future\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pearls and Irritations<\/a>, I argued that Australia\u2019s ageing future requires moving beyond one-size-fits-all policy models toward more integrated, culturally responsive, and community-based approaches to aged care and long-term support services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Australia is entering a major demographic transition.
