West Perth\u2019s Lexi Strachan and Subiaco\u2019s Macy Fair have been named joint\u00a0captains of the AAMI WA Football State 18s\u202fGirls\u202fsquad ahead of\u00a0next month\u2019s\u00a0AFLW\u202fNational Under-18s Championships.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u202fsquad\u202fincludes\u00a0nine\u00a0players from West Perth\u202fand\u00a0eight\u202ffrom Peel Thunder.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

Elly Lambkin,\u202fState Talent Manager \u2013 Female Academies\u202fat WA Football,\u202fhas\u00a0detailed the\u00a0priority for the group after a successful 2025 campaign,\u00a0when the girls came close to winning\u00a0the\u00a0title and had a record number of draftees.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery year, the\u00a0dynamic of the 18s group is different with changes to the squad,\u201d Lambkin said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy hope for this group is to step into the challenge that lay in front of them during the 18s National Championship, to grow, learn and evolve themselves as players with each performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSuccess for the team will be measured on each individual choosing to use their grit and determination across all four quarters of each game.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lambkin also discussed the demographics of the squad.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis 18s group has a unique mix of players with 5 players from the 16s program named alongside\u00a0representatives aged 17,18 and\u00a0a 19-year-old,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEach player brings their own strengths to the group to make the squad better.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some of WA\u2019s top prospects have already built\u00a0a strong reputation\u00a0as pathway players.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWest Perth\u00a0pair\u00a0Cara Dziegielewski and Lexi Strachan,\u00a0Perth\u2019s\u00a0Mia Carlshausen and Claremont\u2019s India\u00a0Bonadeo\u00a0are in good form leading into the National Championships,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe preparation through the WAFLW season has given them all a good platform to launch into the next phase, playing against the other state teams.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the\u00a0players to watch is\u00a0father-daughter prospect\u00a0Miley Hynes from the Falcons.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMiley is the daughter of David Hynes who played at both Fremantle and West Coast,\u201d Lambkin said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMiley is a father-daughter prospect for both WA clubs at the end of next year.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lambkin also is excited about the leadership group\u00a0which was announced last night at the jumper presentation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lambkin\u202fhas praised clubs\u202ffor their\u202fassistance.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe support from the clubs in preparing the athletes to take on the other states in the National Championships,\u00a0has been terrific,\u00a0\u201cLambkin said.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n
