Halle Berry\u00a0broke her silence after her ex-husband David Justice made controversial comments about why their marriage didn’t work out.<\/p>\n

Justice, 59, sparked backlash earlier this week when he spoke about his relationship with the Oscar-winning actress, whom he was married to from 1993-1997, on a recent episode of the All the Smoke<\/a>\u00a0podcast. Fans were outraged<\/a> when Justice claimed he divorced Berry because she “didn’t cook or clean.”<\/p>\n

“So, I’m looking at my mom \u2014 and I’m a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I’m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?” the former professional baseball player said. “She don\u2019t cook, don\u2019t clean, don\u2019t really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Then I\u2019m thinking, \u2018OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?\u2019 At that time, as a young guy, she don\u2019t cook, don\u2019t clean, don\u2019t really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues. I\u2019ll say this, we never had any issues about any women, other men.\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

He also alleged Berry proposed to him after only five months of dating, and said he accepted because he \u201cdidn\u2019t want to say no and make her feel bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly after Justice’s comments went viral online, Berry took to Instagram<\/a> to share a birthday post that doubled as a clap back.<\/p>\n

Alongside a carousel of photos<\/a> celebrating her 59th birthday on vacation, Berry wrote, “Phew\u2026! cooking, cleaning and mothering.”<\/p>\n

The post shared pictures of her celebrating in a tropical destination, including a photo of a card addressed to “Mom,” seemingly from her children Nahla, 17, and Maceo, 11.<\/p>\n

In the comment section, fans were quick to wish the actress and happy birthday and hype her up for the epic comeback against her ex.<\/p>\n

“Bravo!!\ud83d\udc4f\ud83d\udc4f Nobody puts Berry in a corner.\ud83d\ude0c\ud83e\udd70\u2764\ufe0f,” wrote one fan. “Stay unbothered! I love this for you!” said another.<\/p>\n

“Happy blessed birthday sis! God keep showing our Halle how good life can be\u2026.outside of cooking, cleaning and mothering\ud83d\ude02\ud83e\udd73\ud83c\udf89\ud83c\udf82\ud83c\udf89\ud83d\ude0d” added a third.<\/p>\n
