{"id":697013,"date":"2026-05-27T03:17:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T03:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/697013\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T03:17:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T03:17:14","slug":"major-sandown-raceway-event-finds-new-victorian-home-for-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/697013\/","title":{"rendered":"Major Sandown Raceway event finds new Victorian home for 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A FORMER staple on Sandown Raceway\u2019s calendar, Easternats, is set to make a return in 2027, albeit at a new Victorian home.<\/p>\n<p>The event has been acquired by the Tuff Streeters group, and it is moving to Victorian Motorsports Park, formerly known as Heathcote Park Raceway.<\/p>\n<p>The new organisers have been working closely with the event\u2019s founder and promoter, Jon Davison, to bring the fixture back.<\/p>\n<p>The original event ran from 1997 to 2009.<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, the fixture\u2019s cancellation caused a furore amongst its supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Sandown is permitted to run five events a year at up to 95 dB, which this year includes the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 for Supercars, the Shannons SpeedSeries, and a pair of Victorian Trophy Tour events.<\/p>\n<p>The originally scheduled VHRR Historic Sandown was cancelled for 2026 after a date shuffle to accommodate the Supercars event, amid a growing slate of horse racing meets at the venue.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-3?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/v8sleuth-mag-issue3_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis marks far more than the return of an event; it represents the revival of a legacy deeply embedded in Australian automotive culture,\u201d read a statement from the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor an entire generation of enthusiasts, Easternats was more than just a motorsport festival.
