Anytime Steven Spielberg releases a movie, it\u2019s worth celebrating<\/a>. One of the greatest filmmakers of all time has spent over 50 years wowing audiences with his unforgettable work<\/a>, and we\u2019re all incredibly lucky that he\u2019s still doing it. In recent years, though, the man behind Jaws, Jurassic Park, and Raiders of the Lost Ark has kept things a little smaller. Made movies that were less epic. That changes this summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On June 12, the man who invented the summer blockbuster<\/a> returns to the summer for the first time in a decade<\/a> with Disclosure Day. Starring Emily Blunt and Josh O\u2019Connor, it\u2019s a look at what might happen not only if aliens were real, but the world knew about them and was covering it up. It\u2019s a topic that\u2019s as timely as ever<\/a> and one that touches upon Spielberg\u2019s entire filmography. E.T., Close Encounters, War of the Worlds\u2014if you want a great alien movie, Steven Spielberg is your guy.<\/p>\n

Ahead of its release, members of the press have been able to see Disclosure Day and now their reactions are out. Is this a Spielberg return to form? Another forgettable film? Let\u2019s see.<\/p>\n

#DisclosureDay<\/a> is the weirdest movie Spielberg\u2019s ever made (complimentary). Breathtaking compositions, David Koepp\u2019s X-FILES-meets-The Bible script is one big high-wire act, Emily Blunt\u2019s most accomplished performance, John Williams\u2019 best score in years. I can’t remember the last time I loved a Spielberg movie as much as #DisclosureDay<\/a> \u2014 thrilling, funny, deeply emotional and impeccably acted (Emily Blunt, in particular, is astounding). It\u2019s a small selection (so far), but that\u2019s me right at the top of that list, and I\u2019m so beyond happy to say that Disclosure Day is incredible. A true Steven Spielberg movie in every sense of the idea. He\u2019s made several fantastic films in the last 20 years, but when considering my take, I went down Spielberg\u2019s filmography, and it wasn\u2019t until 2002\u2019s Catch Me If You Can\u00a0where I said, \u201cOh, yeah, that one I like better.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll have to wait until the review embargo drops in a few weeks for more details. But, to get a sense of why I and others feel that way, check out this brand-new trailer released on Wednesday. It shows a lot, but I think it\u2019s still vague enough not to completely ruin the movie.<\/p>\n

Co-starring Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo, featuring a new score by the incomparable John Williams, Disclosure Day opens June 12, and tickets are on sale now.<\/p>\n
