{"id":699268,"date":"2026-05-28T04:17:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T04:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/699268\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T04:17:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T04:17:10","slug":"ara-australian-cycling-team-named-for-sarrians-uci-bmx-racing-world-cups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/699268\/","title":{"rendered":"ARA Australian Cycling Team named for Sarrians UCI BMX Racing World Cups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An ARA Australian Cycling Team of eight will race at the opening two rounds of the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Cup in Sarrians, France next weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Sarrians opens the World Cup season for the second straight year on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 8.<\/p>\n<p>The series then travels to Papendal, Netherlands on the following weekend for rounds three and four before the BMX racing world travels to Brisbane in July for the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/bmxworlds2026.com\/\">2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/auscycling.org.au\/news\/saya-sakakibara-wins-third-consecutive-world-cup-crown-sweeps-argentina-double-header-finale\">Reigning three-time World Cup champion<\/a> and Olympic gold medallist Saya Sakakibara continues her build towards a home world championships by contesting both of the upcoming World Cup weekends.<\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old started her season in the United States with a win in Carolina and then returned home to successfully <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/bmxnationals.org.au\/news\/elite-finals-2026\">defend the elite women&#8217;s national title<\/a> at the 2026 GWM BMX Racing National Championships in Shepparton.<\/p>\n<p>Standing alongside Sakakibara as the elite men&#8217;s national champion for the first time was 23-year-old Jesse Asmus, who has shown incredible speed and confidence through the early months of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Gold Coast talent was on fire at Brisbane SX in February, winning the Oceania crown and opening National Series round undefeated over both days.<\/p>\n<p>Sarrians will be Asmus&#8217;
