If you\u2019ve been flirting with the idea of taking up golf but can\u2019t quite commit to the five-hour slog, now might just be your moment. Hiding in a leafy pocket of Sydney\u2019s Lower North Shore, Newgreens Chatswood<\/a> Golf Club is officially opening Australia\u2019s first purpose-built 12-hole golf course \u2013 designed to slot neatly into real life (read: no full-day commitment required).<\/p>\n

Opening to the public on Sunday, May 31, the course flips the traditional 18-hole format on its head, offering a faster, more flexible way to play without sacrificing the experience. It\u2019s a pitch aimed squarely at time-poor professionals, curious first-timers and anyone who likes the idea of a casual hit without blocking out their entire weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is golf that moves at the pace of modern life,\u201d says Clublinks NSW state manager Stephen Peverett. Based on what we know so far, it\u2019s hard to argue. The 12-hole format hits a sweet spot: long enough to feel like a proper round, short enough to squeeze in before lunch.<\/p>\n

To mark the launch, Newgreens is throwing a full-day celebration dubbed \u201c12 Moments of Time Well Spent\u201d \u2013 a 12-hour program running from sunrise to sunset on opening day (Sunday, May 31). Starting at 6am and wrapping at 6pm, the day will unfold in hourly instalments, from the symbolic First Shot at dawn to live music-fuelled afternoon sessions.\u00a0There\u2019ll be complimentary coffee on arrival, breakfast bites from 8am, midday refreshments and a celebratory cake, plus $12 cocktails kicking off at 2pm at on-site bar Tempo. You can dip in and out as you please \u2013 swing by for a quick round, stay for lunch, or settle in for an afternoon of teeing off.<\/p>\n

Golfers can also get in on early-bird $12 green fees at selected times, while the \u201cLucky Ball Wall\u201d brings another element of play: draw a numbered ball before tee-off and you\u2019re guaranteed a prize, ranging from food and drinks to future rounds and even memberships.<\/p>\n

The opening builds on the broader Newgreens Chatswood precinct, which launched late last year and has been positioning itself as more of a lifestyle hub than a traditional golf club.\u00a0Just minutes from Chatswood CBD, the site pairs its golfing ops with dining spots and a wellness offering that includes a high-performance gym, group fitness classes and a heated hydrotherapy pool. There are also dedicated event spaces \u2013 from boardrooms to a ballroom \u2013 so if you were planning on levelling up your golf meeting from the simulator to the real deal, this is the spot.<\/p>\n
