It added that the apparel will feature designs that represent the identity of Spanish rugby and reinforce the Spanish national rugby team on the international stage.<\/p>\n
The new deal builds on the pair\u2019s original five-year partnership, struck in 2016, which saw Joma replace Irish sportswear brand O\u2019Neill\u2019s as a partner of the FER. The agreement was then renewed in 2019.<\/p>\n
The Joma brand has a growing portfolio, mainly in European soccer, having most recently secured a deal to become the official technical sponsor of Spanish soccer side Real Sociedad last month.<\/p>\n
It also provides kits to English Premier League side Brentford,\u00a0as well as to Spain\u2019s Villareal, Getafe, and Leganes; Italy\u2019s Hellas Verona, Torino, and Atalanta; Germany\u2019s Hoffenheim; Belgium\u2019s Anderlecht; and France\u2019s Le Havre.<\/p>\n
In addition, Joma has deals in place with national soccer teams such as Romania, Cuba, and Honduras, as well as prominent international clubs such as Atlante and Venados in Mexico, HNK Rijeka in Croatia, Pa\u00e7os Ferreira in Portugal, and Carlos Barbosa in Brazil, among others.<\/p>\n
In 2024, the brand signed up to become the official sports apparel and footwear partner of European Athletics from 2025 to 2028.<\/p>\n
The renewal comes during a period of growth in rugby in Spain, with the men\u2019s Rugby Europe Championship 2026 final hosted in Madrid on March 15.<\/p>\n
It is also set to stage one of three 2026 SNVS World Championship events, the final stage of the annual World Rugby Sevens Series circuit, alongside Hong Kong and Bordeaux (France).<\/p>\n
The final three events decide the line-up for the 2027 top-tier World Rugby Sevens Series, with Valladolid, Spain, set to stage the new-format tournament this weekend (May 29 to 31).<\/p>\n
FER is currently working to boost its profile in the country after expressing its interest in hosting the men\u2019s 2035 Rugby World Cup.<\/p>\n
Last year, it was reported that FER representatives had met with the World Rugby governing body to demonstrate their intent to host the tournament for the first time.<\/p>\n
At the same time,\u00a0to ensure the bid has facilities with the capacity to host the marquee event, FER is in talks with LaLiga to secure the use of stadia from the Spanish top-flight soccer league to enhance the bid.<\/p>\n
Spain is not new to hosting elite rugby, with the San Mames\u00a0stadium in Bilbao a particular standout, as it is set to host the final of the EPCR Champions Cup in 2026, having hosted once previously in 2018.<\/p>\n
Internationally, Spain competes in the European Nations Cup, the highest tier of annual competition for European sides outside the Six Nations, finishing runner-up in the 2024-25 campaign.<\/p>\n
With France having hosted the most recent edition of the men\u2019s tournament in 2023, the Rugby World Cup will be hosted in 2027 by Australia, and in 2031 for the first time by the US, meaning 2035 would be the next chance for the event to return to Europe.<\/p>\n
Most recently, the federation renewed its partnership with Movistar, the Spanish pay-TV broadcaster owned by telecoms giant Telef\u00f3nica, which retained rights to air top competitions organized by FER for the next three years.<\/p>\n
Under the deal, the Movistar+ streaming service gains rights to air matches from the men\u2019s Division de Honor, women\u2019s Liga Iberdrola, and Copa del Rey domestic knockout competition,\u00a0through the 2027-28 season.<\/p>\n
