{"id":699979,"date":"2026-05-28T12:19:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T12:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/699979\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T12:19:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T12:19:09","slug":"toprak-needs-to-do-a-deal-with-fabio-quartararo-at-mugello-motogp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/699979\/","title":{"rendered":"Toprak \u201cneeds to do a deal\u201d with Fabio Quartararo at Mugello MotoGP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Toprak Razgatlioglu joked that he may need to \u201cdo a deal\u201d with fellow Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo ahead of this weekend\u2019s Italian MotoGP.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/995265\/toprak-razgatlioglu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Razgatlioglu <\/a>hasn\u2019t raced at Mugello since the Red Bull Rookies Cup twelve years ago, Quartararo won the Italian Grand Prix for Yamaha in 2021 and was runner-up in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Last season, the Frenchman put the former Inline machine fourth on the grid, using corner speed to counter time lost on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP\u2019s <\/a>fastest straight.<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/gng_1237344_hires_1600x900.jpg\"   type=\"image\/jpeg\" alt=\"Fabio Quartararo, 2025 Italian MotoGP.\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.78\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Fabio Quartararo, 2025 Italian MotoGP.<\/p>\n<p> \u00a9\u00a0Gold and Goose<\/p>\n<p>Corner speed will be even more crucial with this year\u2019s underpowered V4 powerplant.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Razgatlioglu closed some of the gap to Quartararo\u2019s corner speed during the recent Catalunya test, although the reigning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WorldSBK<\/a> champion admitted he still slips back into a \u2018Superbike style\u2019 during soft-tyre qualifying runs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope we keep this [improved corner speed] because at Mugello you don&#8217;t need the hard braking, you just need the corner speed,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/995265\/toprak-razgatlioglu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Razgatlioglu <\/a>explained at the test.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFabio is always very strong there. I need to follow Fabio immediately in the first session! But I&#8217;ve never seen like this with the Michelin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first session, I was shocked. I came back and said, \u2018Do we have a problem with tyres?\u2019 They said everyone is the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tried to adapt and finally at the test I was riding much better.
