One that would prioritise space, calm and environmental responsibility while accommodating everyday lifestyle needs.

That brief was answered by Sydney-based architecture and interior design studio Stanton Architects, founded in 2020 by Laura and Wally Stanton, who specialise in high-end residential and boutique commercial projects. They responded with a concept of “soft modernism”, expressed through clever spatial planning, refined materials and controlled natural light to achieve a result that feels both serene and beautifully resolved.

Stucco plaster wall in a custom colour. Instead of conventional partitions, custom joinery elements have created generously scaled spaces that work for both everyday routines and quiet retreat.

“The house has a softness to it – the curves, the natural light and the materials – so even though the architecture is quite refined, the spaces feel relaxed and very liveable for a family,” says Laura.

Paolo Castelli ‘Gio’ dining chairs, Atmosfera Studio. ‘Breadstick’ dining table in American Walnut, Skupa. Equally important is the project’s focus on durability and lifecycle: robust, low‑maintenance materials and joinery are intended to age gracefully instead of being replaced.

“We hope the materials will develop a richness with age.
