{"id":702236,"date":"2026-05-29T13:24:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T13:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/702236\/"},"modified":"2026-05-29T13:24:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T13:24:10","slug":"aprilia-outlines-rules-of-engagement-after-catalunya-motogp-fallout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/702236\/","title":{"rendered":"Aprilia outlines rules of engagement after Catalunya MotoGP fallout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aprilia held a meeting with both of its MotoGP teams in the aftermath of a costly collision between Jorge Martin and Raul Fernandez in Catalunya.<\/p>\n<p>The pair collided as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/995154\/raul-fernandez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fernandez<\/a> tried to overtake <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/973236\/jorge-martin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Martin <\/a>on the opening lap of the final restart, leaving title contender Martin on the ground and putting both riders at the back of the field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter Barcelona, we had a meeting all together, us and the Trackhouse guys,\u201d Aprilia team manager Paolo Bonora told<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> MotoGP<\/a> pit lane reporter Jack Appleyard on Friday at Mugello.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody understood that it is necessary to be more quiet during the race, in particular where we are fighting to score points. Don&#8217;t attack if there is not enough space. And, at the end, respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin took out some of his frustration by pushing Bonora after returning to the pit box, for which the Spaniard later apologised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegarding the Jorge Martin reaction, to be fully honest with you, I love Jorge, I love this passion because it means that he was thinking that he lost the opportunity to make good points,\u201d Bonora said.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it was not good to see in the TV, but you have to know that he is a strong talent. He knows that he was able to do something good.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe found at the end on Sunday a good setup, particularly for him. So this was the reason.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI totally understood that reaction.
