The London-based authority behind the World\u2019s\u00a0101 Best Steak Restaurants<\/a>, an international guide that sends \u201csteak ambassadors\u201d to hundreds of grills on five continents in search of the best beef, has just started its annual countdown of the planet’s best burger places<\/a>. While past performance<\/a> is no indicator of future results, it\u2019s fair to say we\u2019re about to land at least one spot in the top 10.\u00a0<\/p>\n Last year, the spread was limited to a mere 25, with Neil Perry\u2019s iconic burger at Next Door (now Cafe Margaret<\/a>) crowned best in Australia and 10th overall. That cheesy fellow was followed by the double cheeseburger at opulent Sydney steakhouse The Gidley<\/a> at 12, and the cheeseburger at hyped Melbourne burger joint Charrd<\/a>, at 14.\u00a0<\/p>\n This year, the guide has expanded to a more respectable 101 burgers, and we\u2019ve already placed four times. Ranking highest so far is Sydney\u2019s New York inspired grill Clam Bar at 21, followed by Melbourne\u2019s Korean-inspired burger joint Seoul Tiger at 37. Next is Jake Kellie\u2019s Adelaide fine diner Arkhe at 45, with Wollongong brasserie Debutant landing at 64.<\/p>\n The complete list will be announced on Instagram this weekend.
